The Challenge

In November 2013, I will be cycling 260 miles or 420 kilometres over 5 days across Death Valley in California and Nevada. I am raising money for Sue Ryder - a UK based charity that provides compassionate care to people with end of life and long term needs.

Preparing for this challenge looks like a very daunting prospect. There are some very large climbs:
  • Daylight Pass (1,315 meters / 4,317 feet)
  • Emigrant Pass (1,624 meters / 5,328 feet)
  • Mountain Springs Summit (1,673 meters / 5,490 feet)
Along with the temperature, the distance, the lack of training and the fundraising goal, the next year will be a challenge in itself.

I've decided to put this site together to show some of my training, the ups and downs of preparing for such a challenge, things I discover along the way and hopefully to ask those of you who read it, to contribute for this very worthwhile cause.
